Ramesses was a sludge and doom metal band originating from Dorset, England. The group was formed in February 2003 by Tim Bagshaw and Mark Greening, both formerly of the influential doom metal band Electric Wizard. They were joined by Adam Richardson, who had previously been a member of Lord of Putrefaction, Spirmyard, and Hexed. The band's sound was characterized by a blend of "crushing blackened doom," featuring "torrential riffing," "concussive percussion," and intense growls, often developed through "freeform psychedelic jams."

In 2011, Ramesses released their third full-length album, Possessed By The Rise of Magick. This was followed by the studio/live EP Chrome Pineal, which included three new studio tracks and three live recordings from 2007.
