History

Vesania

Vesania is a Polish band known for their symphonic black metal and blackened death metal sound. The band's name, derived from Latin, signifies concepts of madness, insanity, dementia, and mental illness.

Formation and Early Releases

Formed in Legionowo, Poland, in 1997, Vesania's initial output included members such as Orion (Behemoth) and Daray (formerly of Vader, Dimmu Borgir). Their debut release was the 2002 split album Moonastray, shared with Black Altar. This release, issued exclusively in Poland by Odium Records, was limited to 666 hand-signed copies, each autographed with blood.

Musical Evolution

The band's second album, Firefrost Arcanum, was released in 2003 across Europe via Empire Records. By their 2005 release, God the Lux, Vesania began to significantly shift their musical direction. While Firefrost Arcanum leaned towards a more brutal black metal style, God the Lux introduced a heavier, more symphonic sound.

Later Work

Vesania's 2007 album, Distractive Killusions, released by Napalm Records, continued to explore their symphonic yet heavy blackened death metal identity. This release is noted for pushing the conventions of symphonic black metal, blending various genres to create what is considered the band's most mature work to date.
