History

Econoline Crush

Econoline Crush is a Canadian industrial alternative rock band formed in Vancouver, British Columbia. Initially based in Seattle, Washington, the band relocated to lead singer Trevor Hurst's native Canada, where they achieved their greatest success. Their notable singles include "Wicked," "Home," "Sparkle and Shine," and "You Don't Know What It's Like."

Formation and Early Releases

The band was established around 1992 when Trevor Hurst responded to an advertisement placed by Tom Ferriss (formerly of Moev) in a Seattle-area newspaper. Econoline Crush released a five-song EP titled "Purge" before their debut full-length album, "Affliction," which garnered critical acclaim and moderate commercial success in Canada.

Commercial Success and Evolution

Despite mixed reviews, their second album, "The Devil You Know," became the band's most commercially successful release to date. This album, produced by Sylvia Massy (known for her work with Tool and Red Hot Chili Peppers), featured a more mainstream sound compared to "Affliction." Following this success, Econoline Crush collaborated with veteran producer Bob Rock (Metallica, Mötley Crüe) for their third LP, "Brand New History."

Hiatus and Reunion

While "Brand New History" achieved moderate commercial success, it received mixed critical reception. After releasing the album's lead single, "Make It Right," in 2001, the band entered a hiatus. During this period, Trevor Hurst formed a new project called "Hurst." However, Econoline Crush reunited in January 2007 for tours across Canada, notably with Hinder, and more recently with Three Days Grace and Seether. Their independently released fourth LP, "Ignite," was released on January 15, 2008.
