History

Jake and the Stiffs were born in a shitty rundown house on the Northwest side of Detroit during the end of Randy's senior year in High School where he lived with many great musicians from the Detroit area from time to time, among them, Matthew Ruffino (Detroit Cosmic Banditos, Sinclair, Nagazi) and many others, also a guitar understudy to Megadeth in 1988), Scott Goldstein ( Jake & the Stiffs, Beer Whores, Chinese Dragons, Detroit 442, many others), Jason “Jake” Loch ( Jake & the Stiffs, Beer Whores, Cold as Life and many others). So many local musicians stayed there at one point or another, the list is too long to recall. The original Jake and the Stiffs lineup consisted of Randy America, Jason (Jake) Loch, and Scott Goldstein.

Randy moved to Pike Creek, Delaware in 1991, where he met up with Local musicians Zach Hansen (Jake & the Stiffs, Spindrift) and Steve Funk and revived the Jake & The Stiffs lineup that had begun in Detroit only a few years earlier. After Steve departed in 1994, local Delaware Valley legend Vince Kilpatrick AKA Algy Siouxicide joined up and he and Randy played together in Jake & the Stiffs through various lineup and member changes for the next 20 years as well as several other projects including The First State Thrill Killers, The Keefs, Bitchin' Camaro, Walk Among Us, and many more. Jake & the Stiffs were a variable who's who of local talent from the Delaware Valley among the many members at one time or another were Matt Yonker (The Queers, The Teen Idols), Don Yonker (The Halfings, The Rumblers, Tonight We Strike) , Ersk (Schroeder) , Bill Kate (Explosive Kate, Saturday night Kids), and many guest appearances by friends like Sean Rule (Plow United), Steve Attig (Britny Fox), Chris Mundis (Puddle), Paul Bud (Spindrift) and several others.
