History Pussycat and The Dirty Johnsons

There are four bands called 'The Johnsons'.

One is a UK based surf/punk/rock act who describe themselves as:

"Dirty, dirty rock ‘n’ rollers from Basingstoke.

Always ready to make ya shake ya sleazy stuff and have ya dribbling, drooling and bleeding from every orifice."

They are now know as Pussycat and the Dirty Johnsons and their first album is out.

The second one's a Skate/Punk Band from Champ City, Canada.

'Till today they released two LPs, including "Gypsies For Life" (2006) which was quickly winning over hearts of critics and fans everywhere'.

*In the five years since their debut album, So I Says to the Guy was released, The Johnsons have played more than 400 shows all over North America. They've passed nearly 300,000 highway kilometer markers. They've shared the same stage as Protest The Hero, Satanic Surfers, SNFU, Cancer Bats, Death By Stereo, Choke, Belvedere, just to name a few.

They've downed a lot of beer, blown-out three vans, and partied with more people than they can count. They've lost their drummers on more than one occasion (the suckers aint down with the gypsy lifestyle). And along the way Nathan Burge (vocals/guitar), Calvin Kirwer (guitar/vocals), Nick Kouremenos (bass), and Dan Lilly (current drummer), have become one of the tightest punk rock outfits in Canada, beloved by an ever-increasing legion of loyal fans.

Life is good for this band, and it's no surprise that The Johnsons songs reveal that not every band needs to sing about girls, politics, or drive-bys. You only need to see them live once to know that they enjoy every minute of their lives. *Taken from their Myspace page.

Original member and singer Nathan Burge is set to sing for the last time for The Johnsons on July 20th, 2008 in their hometown of Edmonton at Avenue Skatepark during a show with A Wilhelm Scream. They are currently looking for a new singer to join the Gypsy life style. GYPSIES FOR LIFE!

The third one is an electronic band from Munich, Germany consisting of former members of the Merricks. Their debut album "Fuck The Johnsons" was released on Echokammer in 2002 (featuring a guest appearance by Dakar & Grinser's former frontman Christian Kreuz). Their second album "Soft Tissue Trauma Clinic" hasn't been released yet, but one of its tracks ("The Greens are Grey") can be found on the sampler "Echokammer Werkschau".

The fourth band claiming the name "The Johnsons" was a power pop group from Philadelphia. They released one album, "Break Tomorrow's Day," in 1986.
