History The Blackout

There are at least 2 artists named The Blackout:

1) The Blackout are a band formed in 2003 in South Wales and drawing influences from across the board, they combine heavy crunching guitars, riffs, screams and thunderous drumbeats with beautiful melodies and emotionally driven vocals.

The band has played shows in and around the UK with the likes of Lostprophets, Funeral for a Friend, Fightstar, Avenged Sevenfold, dredg, 18 Visions, Thrice and Hidden in Plain View, My Chemical Romance and You Me At Six.

They were also nominated at the 2006 Kerrang Awards for Best British Newcomer but lost out to Bring Me The Horizon.

The Blackout released their debut mini album entitled 'The Blackout! The Blackout! The Blackout!' on October 23rd 2006 through Fierce Panda Records and the first single taken from it was 'Hard Slammin'.

The album 'We Are The Dynamite' was released on October 1st 2007 through Fierce Panda Records.

Their new album, "The Best In Town" was released in the UK on May 25th 2009; the tracks 'ShutTheFuckUppercut' and 'Children of the Night' were available for early preview.

2) THE BLACKOUT was formed in the summer of 2007. The band is known for its' unique old-school stoner rock influenced sound, which they are proud to bring into the Latvian music scene.

In the winter of 2007, the band play their first gig together and release their first radio single, "Savior". The song is widely acknowledged and receives good reviews and airplay.

2008 is mainly a concert year for the band. Summer festivals include "Metalshow.lv '08", "Fonofest" and many others. The band receive the "Best Performance Award" at the annual "Vēja Brāļi" biker festival.

The recording of the band's debut album also begins in 2008. The album is fully recorded and produced by the band themselves at KS Studios, and mixed by Andris "Zazists" Bergmanis at R&M Studios. The release date has not been announced yet. The album will contain 8 songs, including a cover-version of the legendary Corrosion Of Conformity song "Albatross".

A video for the yet-unreleased-album's first single, "Rats in a Sewer", is released in the beggining of 2009. The band are currently working on their second video.
