Biography Claire Hamill

Claire Hamill began singing professionally in 1971 when she was offered a recording contract with Island Records. She has released 9 albums of songs and performed in some of the world's most prestigious venues in Europe, North America and Japan.

She has written music for and appeared many times on T.V. and radio and has represented her country in the soviet block version of the Eurovision Song Contest where she won the journalists prize. She has had 2 no.1 successes, the first when her album Voices was no.1 in the new age charts and the second when her song You Take My Breath Away was on the number 1 album American Tune by Eva Cassidy.

In 1979 she became a member of Wishbone Ash and wrote one of their most popular songs in collaboration with Laurie Wisefield. She has appeared on albums by Steve Howe and Jon and Vangelis and has written Lyrics for John Themis and jazz artists Morrisey Mullen, Jamie Talbot and John Critchinson. She has recently released an album of songs called The Lost and the Lovers and an EP called When Are Wars Won?
