Biography

Vocalist and guitarist Patrick Campbell-Lyons is best known for his seminal work with guitarist Alex Spyropoulos in the British duo Nirvana, which was formed in the summer of 1967 and signed by Chris Blackwell as one of Island Records' earliest rock acts. Recorded with the help of session musicians, Nirvana's The Story of Simon Simopath, All of Us, and subsequent releases are today recognized as highlights of late 60's-early 70's chamber-psychedelic rock.

Since Nirvana languished in 1973, Campbell-Lyons has released several solo efforts - that year's Me and My Friend, The Electric Plough (1981), and The Hero I Might Have Been (1983). In 1976, he reunited with Spyropoulos to cut a single, and in 1978 the two reclaimed the Nirvana moniker for another collaboration and have periodically toured and recorded under that name since. (They are not to be confused with the Seattle grunge band; Campbell-Lyons and Spyropoulos sued Cobain, et al. in 1992, in fact, and the matter was settled amicably.)
