History Judi Chicago

JUDI CHICAGO exists in a parallel universe where beef burgers can rap and alcho-pop whippets puke neon hues over the pavements of the weekend.

Since 2006 the wicked duo of multi-instrumentalists Travis Thatcher and British-born ATL transplant Benjamin Coleman have concocted their surreal blend of acid house, futurist disco, the whooping and clattering of art-punk and psychedelic rock and the rhythm and grind of ragga, jungle and UK garage.

Both utilize a range of new and old electronic instruments, many of them modified, circuit-bent or built from scratch. Adding live percussion, guitars, bass, horns and anything else that they get their hands on, JUDI CHICAGO makes a dazzling mess that bucks the conventions of live electronic music in favour of spontaneity and risk.

JUDI CHICAGO’s reputation as a thrilling, unpredictable live act grows continually as the group bemuses, excites and moves the crowd at every show. Thatcher and Coleman have shared stages with the likes of Battles, Bonde Do Role, Dan Deacon, Datarock, Gravy Train!!! and many others; dressed to the nines and doing it to death... These are two pigeons that will not be holed.

The group’s debut release 'JUDI CHICAGO x 1,000,000' is a ragged and righteous dance floor manifesto that’s bursting at the seams with big drums and bass, dada-illogic and non-sequitur poetics that come together under the guise of explosive party music.
