Biography SUGIZO

SUGIZO has released a multitude of solo work since 1997, including the albums Truth?, C:LEAR, Soundtrack, Silent Voice ~Acoustic Songs of Soundtrack~ and the elusive H.ART CHAOS, as well as compilation and remix albums. Sugizo has worked with artists such as Nicholas Tse, Vivian Hsu and bice as well as starring in the film Soundtrack. He is known for his anti-war sentiments and progressive sound.

Sugizo is best-known as lead guitarist and at times-violinist of LUNA SEA, and recently became the lead guitarist in X Japan, taking the late hide's place. He also had played a major part in The FLARE, but have since parted ways.

In 2007, Yoshiki and Gackt announced that Sugizo was the lead guitarist in the so-called superband known as S.K.I.N. along with Miyavi. Currently, the future of this project remains unclear. Sugizo is also a member of trance/world music act, Juno Reactor since that year.

Sugizo is still heavily involved with LUNA SEA and in December 2013, recently released 'A Will', LUNA SEA's new studio album after thirteen years. He has also composed original soundtracks as well as acted in for several theatre pieces, including the play '7 Doors' in May 2012 which was a staging of Bartók's opera 'Bluebeard's Castle'. In November 2013, Sugizo was also the musical director and composer for a new staging of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.

While in Luna Sea, Sugizo almost exclusively used ESP guitars and has around sixteen signature models with them. For his solo projects he often uses Fender guitars and basses. For live violin playing, and recording he uses signature ESP electric violin.
