Fatal Collision on Interstate 26

The incident occurred at approximately 2:00 a.m. on Friday morning as the band was traveling for its Roar Like Thunder Tour. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident took place on Interstate 26 at mile marker 31 in Spartanburg County. Authorities reported that a Toyota Sedan was traveling east when it struck a pedestrian who was on the road. The pedestrian, who was the driver of a previous single-vehicle crash in the area and had exited their vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

While the tour bus for Buckcherry was involved in the multi-vehicle wreckage, all members of the group and their touring crew were confirmed to be safe and unharmed. Following the collision and the subsequent investigation by troopers, all lanes of the interstate were eventually reopened around 10:30 a.m.

The band's current tour is promoting their 11th studio album, titled Roar Like Thunder. The record was released in June 2025 through Round Hill Records in North America. Globally, the album was distributed by Sony Music in Japan and Earache Records in other territories.

Production and Lineup Background

Originally formed in 1995, the Hard Rock outfit has maintained a consistent presence in the genre. The current lineup features vocalist Josh Todd, who remains the only original member of the group. He is joined by guitarists Stevie Dacanay (also known as Stevie D) and Billy Rowe, bass player Kelly LeMieux, and drummer Francis Ruiz. Dacanay has been described as a defining force for the group since joining during its 2005 revival, helping shape the comeback album 15 and its hits "Crazy Bitch" and "Sorry."

The Roar Like Thunder LP features 10 tracks, all of which were penned by the trio of Todd, Dacanay, and producer Marti Frederiksen. The album was recorded in Nashville at Sienna Studios. Frederiksen, a veteran songwriter-for-hire and producer, has a history of collaboration with the band, having helmed their previous two releases, 2023’s Vol. 10 and 2021’s Hellbound. His extensive career also includes work with high-profile artists such as Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Jonny Lang, and Sheryl Crow.
