aespa is a pioneering South Korean girl group formed by SM Entertainment. The quartet, consisting of members Karina, Winter, Giselle, and Ningning, is recognized for its innovative "metaverse" concept. The group's name is a combination of "æ" (representing "Avatar X Experience") and the word "aspect," signifying the theme of experiencing a new world through another self.

The group debuted on November 17, 2020, with the single "Black Mamba." The music video set a record for the most views in the first 24 hours for a K-pop debut and became the fastest debut video to surpass 100 million views on YouTube. Following their initial success, aespa released "Forever," a remake of Yoo Young-jin’s 2000 ballad, in early 2021.
