Dead by April

History

Dead by April is a prominent modern metal outfit hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden. Formed in 2007, the band quickly established a signature sound that bridges the gap between aggressive metalcore and melodic pop sensibilities. Their early career was marked by a rapid rise in the digital space, as their 2007 and 2008 demos gained significant traction on peer-to-peer sharing networks and local Gothenburg stages. This grassroots momentum led to their first radio hit, "Falling Behind," and earned the group "Best Newcomer" honors at both the Swedish Pop Awards and the Bandit Rock Awards in 2008.

Breakthrough and Debut Album

The band's commercial breakthrough arrived in early 2009 with the release of the single "Losing You." The track reached a massive audience after being featured on the soundtrack of the television show Expedition Robinson 2009. In May 2009, the band released their self-titled debut album, Dead by April. The record featured 13 tracks, primarily consisting of polished, remastered versions of their popular demo material alongside new compositions.

Following the success of their debut, Dead by April expanded their reach internationally. During a 2009 UK tour supporting Skindred, they released "Angels of Clarity" as a specialized single for the British market, while simultaneously promoting "What Can I Say" in their home country. The band's ability to blend heavy riffs with infectious hooks solidified their position in the European metal scene.
