Christopher Cross, born Christopher Charles Geppert on May 3, 1951, is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. He achieved significant commercial success and critical acclaim following the release of his 1979 self-titled debut album. This landmark record garnered him five Grammy Awards, solidifying his place in popular music.

Cross is best known for his chart-topping singles. "Sailing," a signature track from his debut album, became a massive hit, earning three Grammy Awards in 1980. Another iconic song, "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)," featured prominently in the 1981 film "Arthur." The song, co-written with Burt Bacharach, Carole Bayer Sager, and Peter Allen, reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1982.
