History
Nathan Sharp, better known by his professional moniker NateWantsToBattle, is an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist based in Orlando, Florida. Since his emergence in the early 2010s, Sharp has established himself as a central figure in the intersection of gaming, anime, and alternative rock music.
Online Beginnings and Cover Success
Initially gaining traction as a gaming YouTuber, Sharp transitioned into music by creating English-language covers of popular anime opening themes. His work frequently features adaptations of tracks from series like Pokémon and The Legend of Zelda, alongside parodies of mainstream pop hits. He also became a significant contributor to the "fan song" genre, producing original compositions inspired by video games such as Five Nights at Freddy's and Undertale.
Original Studio Albums
While his early career was defined by covers and fan-centric content, Sharp successfully pivoted to original songwriting. He released his debut original studio album, Sandcastle Kingdoms, on March 1, 2017. The record showcased a shift toward a more polished alternative rock and pop-punk sound. He followed this success with his second album, Paid in Exposure, on June 1, 2018.
After several years of focusing on voice acting and independent singles, Sharp released his third original full-length album, To Let Go, on September 18, 2023. This project marked a more mature direction in his songwriting, exploring personal themes while maintaining the energetic production his audience expects.
Voice Acting and Professional Work
In addition to his musical output, Sharp is an accomplished voice actor within the anime and gaming industries. His dual career as a musician and voice talent has allowed him to collaborate across various media platforms, cementing his role as a versatile entertainer in digital spaces. His work continues to bridge the gap between traditional music production and modern internet culture.
