History

James Grant's musical journey commenced in the early 1980s with the formation of Friends Again alongside Chris Thompson (later of The Bathers). Despite its brief existence, the band left a significant mark, contributing to the defining sound of subsequent Scottish musical acts.

Love and Money and Solo Success

Grant achieved broader recognition as a member of Love and Money. The group released four albums, garnered several hit singles, and cultivated a global fanbase. Their success, marked by UK silver disc awards, solidified Grant's status as a prominent songwriter.

Debut and Acclaimed Releases

In 1996, Grant lent his songwriting talents to Capercaillie vocalist Karen Matheson's solo album, contributing four songs, including the title track, "The Dreaming Sea." This collaboration led to his work with musician and producer Donald Shaw, culminating in Grant's debut album, Sawdust In My Veins. Its follow-up, My Thrawn Glory, received similar critical acclaim.

Continued Creativity

Since then, Grant has released three additional albums, with his most recent being Strange Flowers in 2009. He continues to be an active force in music, writing, recording, and performing live, including notable collaborations with Karen Matheson and Monica Queen.
