Wreckless Eric, born Eric Goulden on May 18, 1954, in East Sussex, England, emerged from the pub-rock scene to become one of the first artists signed to Stiff Records. Despite possessing a distinctive singing voice and a talent for songwriting, his records did not achieve chart success. However, his live performances became his primary strength, cultivating a dedicated following that continues to support him. In recent years, he has collaborated with his wife, the American singer-songwriter Amy Rigby, releasing music as Wreckless Eric & Amy Rigby. Their debut album was released in 2008, followed by a second in 2010.
Renewed interest in Wreckless Eric's music occurred when his song "Whole Wide World" was featured on the soundtrack of the 2006 film Stranger Than Fiction. The same track had also appeared in the film Me Without You several years prior.
