Striking Matches is an American duo formed by guitarists and songwriters Sarah Zimmermann and Justin Davis. Zimmermann, originally from Philadelphia, and Davis, from Atlanta, met at Belmont University when a professor assigned them to perform together for a guitar class. This serendipitous pairing marked the beginning of their collaborative journey in writing and performing music.
The duo's musical palette is diverse, drawing inspiration from a wide array of artists. Their influences span genres and eras, including the technical prowess of Jerry Reed, the timeless melodies of The Beatles, the contemporary songwriting of John Mayer, and the classic country stylings of Patsy Cline. This eclectic mix contributes to their distinctive sound.
