Music Revelation Ensemble

The Music Revelation Ensemble stands as one of the pioneering free-funk ensembles, drawing significant inspiration from and expanding upon the innovative concepts introduced by Ornette Coleman and his band Prime Time.

At the heart of the Music Revelation Ensemble was guitarist James Blood Ulmer, the group's leader and its sole permanent member throughout its existence. Ulmer was the primary composer, crafting the majority of the band's musical repertoire and shaping its distinctive sound.
