Novo Tono is a Japanese supergroup formed in 1994, comprising six highly respected musicians from various influential underground scenes.

Founding Members and Background

Phew (Vocals)

Phew, the vocalist, is a legendary figure in the Japanese underground. Her career began with the punk band Aunt Sally, and she has been a prominent artist for two decades prior to Novo Tono's formation.

Seiichi Yamamoto (Guitar, Vocals)

Seiichi Yamamoto brought his experience from the experimental rock bands Boredoms and Omoide Hatoba to Novo Tono.

Otomo Yoshihide (Turntables, Guitar)

Otomo Yoshihide, known for his work with the noise jazz group Ground Zero, contributed his innovative turntable and guitar skills.

Masahiro Uemura (Drums)

Masahiro Uemura also joined from Ground Zero, providing the band's rhythmic foundation.

Naoko Eto (Keyboards)
