History

Dweller at the Threshold

Dweller at the Threshold is an electronic music project that emerged from a deep appreciation for the cinematic potential of synthesized sound, drawing inspiration from the pre-ambient and techno scenes of Europe. The project's core philosophy centers on the synthesizer as a versatile creative instrument, capable of producing a broad spectrum of textures that can be brought to life through direct manipulation.

Musical Approach

Utilizing modular synthesis, the artist known as DatT crafts original electronic compositions. These works are characterized by intricate rhythms, engaging harmonies, and expansive, deep-space sonic textures. The hands-on approach to sound design allows for the animation of contrasting sonic elements, creating a dynamic and immersive listening experience.

Personnel and Releases

Based in the Pacific Northwest, Dweller at the Threshold features Dave Fulton and John Duval on synthesizers, with Lon Cudy contributing on guitar. The project has released three original CDs: No Boundary Condition, Generation Transmission Illumination, and Ouroboros. Additionally, the discography includes Hard Particles, a solo CD by founder Dave Fulton, and the collaborative works The Most Distant Point Known and Imprint, which were created in partnership with Mike Griffin.
