Joseph Stephen "Stevie" Woods Jr. (July 2, 1951 – January 28, 2014) was an American R&B musician and recording artist. Born in Chatham, Virginia, Woods achieved brief stateside success as a singer in the early 1980s, charting two Top 40 hits in the United States: "Steal the Night" and "Just Can't Win 'Em All."
Woods' musical journey began with early R&B influences. His brief period of mainstream success in the US came in the early 1980s, a time when his singles "Steal the Night" and "Just Can't Win 'Em All" resonated with audiences. During the 1970s and 1980s, Stevie was married to Hollywood actress and entrepreneur Cheri (Lewis) Woods. Together, they had a daughter, Tiana Woods, who later emerged as an L.A.-based singer-songwriter and the frontwoman for the band "Varna." Cheri Woods later documented their life together in her memoir, "Death Row Madam: Exposing sex and drugs in the entertainment industry."
