History
Makoto Ogawa (小川麻琴, Ogawa Makoto), born October 29, 1987, in Niigata, Japan, is a former member of the popular J-pop group Morning Musume.
Early Life and Pre-Debut Activities
Before her rise to fame, Ogawa was a standout student at the Apple Little Performers (ALP) entertainment school in her hometown of Niigata. Her early career included a CD debut with a cheer song for the J2 soccer team, Albirex Niigata. She also gained experience as a model for various magazines and campaigns, including one focused on automobile safety for the elderly.
Morning Musume and Solo Career
Joining the Group
Ogawa joined Morning Musume as a fifth-generation member in August 2001, alongside Ai Takahashi, Risa Niigaki, and Asami Konno. Producer Tsunku noted her exceptional dancing abilities and her captivating performance during the audition process as key factors in her selection.
Activities and Graduation
During her tenure with Morning Musume, Ogawa released two solo photobooks. She graduated from the group on August 27, 2006, during the final performance of the Hello! Project musical rendition of "Ribon no Kishi." Her stated reason for leaving was to pursue language studies abroad, with the intention of eventually returning to Hello! Project.
