History
Aerolíneas Federales
Aerolíneas Federales was a Spanish pop/rock band that emerged in the 1980s from Vigo, Galicia.
Formation and Early Years
The group was formed in Vigo in 1981 by Miguel Costas, along with friends Flechi and Silvino. Initially, their sound was characterized by guitar, bass, and a beatbox. By 1983, the band incorporated a drum kit, and Flechi took over as the lead singer. In the same year, Aerolíneas Federales won the rock contest organized by Radio 3 in A Coruña. Shortly after, Flechi departed to join the group Las Termitas and tragically passed away from a heart attack in London in 2002.
Evolving Lineup and Musical Style
Following Flechi's departure, the band's lineup shifted to feature Miguel Costas, Silvino, Luis, and vocalists Coral and Rosa. This iteration of Aerolíneas Federales became known for its powerful guitar-driven songs, complemented by fun and surreal lyrical themes.
Later Years and Dissolution
The band experienced further changes with Coral's departure, being replaced by Silvia. Miguel Costas also eventually left the group. Aerolíneas Federales disbanded in the mid-1990s, after contributing to the Galician television show Xabarin Club. Following the band's dissolution, Miguel Costas went on to form the band Los Feliz, while Silvia joined Superstar and later the Killer Babies.
