Steve Knightley

Steve Knightley, born in Southampton, England in 1954, is a prominent singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He is widely recognized as one half of the acclaimed acoustic, folk, and roots duo Show of Hands, alongside Phil Beer. The duo frequently collaborates with bass player and singer Miranda Sykes. In April 2007, Show of Hands achieved a significant milestone by selling out London's Royal Albert Hall for the third time.

Notable Works and Solo Career

Knightley has penned several well-known songs, including "Country Life," "Roots," and "Cousin Jack." In addition to his work with Show of Hands, he has also released solo material. His solo album, Cruel River, features notable tracks such as "Poppy Day" and "Crooked Man '97." The latter is a pointed critique of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair's Iraq policy.

Live Performances

Knightley balances his commitments with Show of Hands by undertaking regular solo tours. These performances are often enhanced by the presence of the young Devon singer-songwriter Jenna Witts, who frequently accompanies him.
