History

Parnassus

Parnassus was a black metal project initiated by Fredrik Söderlund, known for his involvement with the band Puissance. Formed in 1995 in Linköping, Sweden, Parnassus distinguished itself from Söderlund's other black metal endeavor, Octinomos, by operating as an exclusively solo venture. Musically, Parnassus adopted a more symphonic direction, characterized by a prominent use of keyboards.

Musical Direction and Solo Nature

While rooted in black metal, Parnassus explored a symphonic soundscape driven by keyboard arrangements. This approach set it apart from other projects Söderlund was involved in, emphasizing its unique identity as a singular creative outlet.

Discography and Hiatus

The project released two demo tapes in 1995, followed by its debut album, In Doloriam Gloria, in the same year. A second and final album, Let the Stars Fall and the Kingdom Come, was released in 1997. Both albums were issued by the Swedish underground label Secula Delenda. Around 1997, Söderlund's commitments to his various musical projects increased, leading to the cessation of Parnassus, which appears to have been retired permanently.
