History

Caustic Thought

Caustic Thought was the primary musical project of bassist Byron Stroud, formed in 1987. The band's early lineup included guitarist Jed Simon and vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Devin Townsend. Townsend initially joined Caustic Thought to collaborate with Stroud after Simon's departure.

Formation and Evolution

Later, in 1995, Townsend invited Simon to join his burgeoning project, Strapping Young Lad (SYL). Simon has remained a consistent member of SYL since its inception. Byron Stroud also became a member of SYL, continuing his musical collaboration with both Simon and Townsend.

Discography

Caustic Thought's sole official release is their self-titled album, issued in 1994. This album featured Ian White and Jason Vaughn on guitar and vocals, with Bob Wagner on drums. The band also produced three independent demo recordings: "Demo," "Sore," and "Cleaned Tape."
