History
U-Tek
U-Tek was a musical project initiated in 1989 by André Schmechta, also known as Sevren Ni-Arb from the band X-Marks the Pedwalk. For this endeavor, Schmechta adopted the alias Kevin Morgain. He collaborated with Alexis Schaar, who was formerly a producer for X-Marks the Pedwalk and used the alias AL/X/S. The core concept behind U-Tek was to merge Schaar's expertise in dance and club music with Schmechta's EBM (Electronic Body Music) foundation. This fusion aimed to cultivate a sonic identity distinct from the established sound of X-Marks the Pedwalk.
Project Timeline and Legacy
While U-Tek tracks continued to be featured on dance music compilations as late as 1999, the project effectively ceased new creative output after its third single, "I Am Movin'". This suggests that, for all practical purposes, U-Tek was discontinued around 1993.
