History
October Falls is a Finnish musical project that emerged in 2001. The band recorded its initial demos later that same year, though these were shared with a limited audience.
Musical Evolution
Early Melodic Dark Metal to Acoustic Neofolk
Following its formation and a brief hiatus, October Falls began composing new material. The project's sound gradually shifted from melodic dark metal towards an entirely acoustic style. This evolution culminated in the release of the album “Tuoni,” which showcased this new direction.
Transition to Folk-Based Black Metal
After releasing another album in a similar vein to “Tuoni,” October Falls underwent another stylistic transformation. The EP “The Streams of the End” marked a move towards folk-based black metal.
Recent Works
"Sarastus" and "The Womb of Primordial Nature"
The project's more recent output includes the EP "Sarastus," an all-acoustic neofolk release. This was followed by "The Womb of Primordial Nature," a folk black metal album that draws inspiration from the emotional depth found in the early works of bands such as Ulver.
