The Textones
The Textones emerged from Southern California in 1979, a dynamic force in the power pop and punk scene. The band was co-founded by Carla Olson and Kathy Valentine, who would later achieve significant fame as the bassist for The Go-Go's.
Early Years and Notable Releases
In the early 1980s, The Textones released several singles through IRS Records. Notably, one of these singles, penned by Valentine and titled "Vacation," was later re-recorded by The Go-Go's in 1982, becoming a hit for the group. Valentine departed The Textones in 1980 to join The Go-Go's.
Major Label Debut and Subsequent Work
The Textones' major-label debut arrived in 1984 with the release of "Midnight Mission" on A&M Records. Their follow-up album, "Cedar Creek," was released in 1987 by Enigma Records. The band disbanded in 1988.
