History
Galaxy 2 Galaxy is a musical project associated with Mike Banks, a key figure in the Detroit techno scene and a co-founder of Underground Resistance. The name initially gained recognition through the seminal 1993 EP of the same name, which featured seminal tracks like "Journey of the Dragons" and "Hi-Tech Jazz." These tracks were often featured on compilations under the Galaxy 2 Galaxy moniker, sometimes without direct attribution to Mike Banks himself.
Evolution of the Project
Live Performances and Collaborations
Beginning in 2005, the Galaxy 2 Galaxy name evolved to encompass live performances featuring various members of Underground Resistance. This iteration of the project adopted a similar concept to Mike Banks' other live ensemble, Timeline. The formation of this new live band was notably established to commemorate a Tsunami Disaster Relief effort.
