History
Somerset (Minneapolis Rock Band)
Somerset is a rock band hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Their sound draws inspiration from fellow Midwestern indie, emo rock, and post-hardcore artists, with notable influences including Hey Mercedes and Braid. The band officially formed in September 2002.
Early Releases and Label Debut
Shortly after their formation, Somerset self-released their debut EP, This Thought Process, in 2003. Later that year, a recording session in September yielded a three-song EP released through the Midwest-based label I Ate Her Records. In 2005, the band signed with the emerging Punknews Records, leading to the release of their first full-length album, Pandora, in August of the same year.
Band Members
The lineup of Somerset features Forrest Olsen on guitar and vocals, JT Viele on guitar, Claudio Rivera on drums, and Matt Broadbent on bass. Notably, Rivera and former guitarist Michael Warren were previously members of the disbanded group Flipsyde.
