Deportees
Deportees are a Swedish band that emerged in 2003 from Vindeln and Umeå. The core of the group comprises brothers Peder Stenberg (vocals) and Anders Stenberg (guitar), alongside drummer Thomas Hedlund and keyboardist Mattias Lidström.
Early Career and Debut
The band's initial foray into the music scene was marked by their debut single, "Arrest Me 'til it Hurts." This distinctive track showcased a blend of pop, funk, and country influences, notably drawing comparisons to the work of Prince. The single garnered significant attention from both the public and music critics, paving the way for their first full-length album, All Prayed Up, released in 2004. The album achieved critical acclaim, earning two Swedish Grammy nominations: Best New Artist and Best Pop Group.
Subsequent Releases and Touring
Following their debut, Deportees embarked on extensive tours across Sweden, the United States, the UK, and Ireland. Their second album, Damaged Goods, was released in 2006 and featured production work from Pelle Gunnerfeldt and Björn Yttling. The band continued their creative output with their third album, Under the Pavement - The Beach, in 2009, which was produced by Måns Lundberg.
Awards and Later Work
In January 2010, Deportees received the P3 Gold award for Best Pop. Their fourth album, titled Islands & Shores, was released in October 2011.
