Mysticum emerged from Asker, Norway, as a distinctive force in the black metal scene, carving out a niche with their pioneering approach to industrial black metal. The band's early output included several demos and notable split releases, including collaborations with influential acts like Ulver and Audiopain.
Mysticum's full-length discography features two significant albums. Their debut, In the Streams of Inferno, was initially slated for release on Euronymous's Deathlike Silence Productions. However, due to unforeseen circumstances surrounding the label's history, the album was eventually released in 1996 by Full Moon Productions.
