History

Wolfpac

Wolfpac delivers a raw, high-energy, and unapologetic musical experience rooted in old-school hip-hop. The group masterfully blends classic hip-hop beats with aggressive hardcore and metal samples, creating a sound that is both familiar and distinct. Their in-your-face rap delivery is amplified by audacious horror-core lyrics, a stark contrast to the more conventional themes often found in contemporary suburban rap.

Musical Style and Lyrical Themes

The group's second release, "Evil Is...", marked their debut with Megaforce Records and explored a diverse range of macabre and unconventional topics. These narratives span from vengeful resurrections and unwavering self-belief against societal norms to graphic explorations of death and desire. This thematic content sets Wolfpac apart, offering a darker and more provocative lyrical landscape.

Origins and Early Development

Wolfpac's genesis can be traced back to members of the Philadelphia-based group The Bloodhound Gang. Following The Bloodhound Gang's significant success with their independent release "Dingleberry Haze" and subsequent major label deal with Columbia Records, which resulted in the nearly 200,000-selling album "Use Your Fingers," founding member Daddy Long Legs departed to form Wolfpac.

Independent Success and Underground Growth

Daddy Long Legs' unconventional approach to funding Wolfpac's initial recordings, including claims of grave robbing and selling bones to occult shops, foreshadowed the group's independent spirit. Their debut album, "Somethin Wicked This Way Comes," released independently via Chord Recordings, quickly sold out its limited 10,000-copy run without the backing of a major label. Instead of relying on extensive promotional campaigns, Wolfpac cultivated a dedicated underground following through word-of-mouth, extensive touring, online presence, and appearances on platforms like "The Howard Stern Show," where they gained Stern's endorsement.

Beyond Music: Live Shows and Fan Connection

Wolfpac's appeal extends beyond their recorded music, encompassing highly interactive live performances. MCs frequently engage with the audience from within the mosh pit, fostering a strong connection with their fans. Daddy Long Legs describes this relationship as familial, stating, "Our fans are like our family. If you're the kind of person who can relate to our music, you're the kind of person who can definitely relate to me!" This communal bond, described as a "dysfunctional family all bound by a common tie, music," resonates with a diverse audience.

Collaborations and Media Presence

The group has garnered notable achievements, including sponsorships from Jägermeister, participation in the "Gathering of the Juggalos," and tours with national acts such as Twiztid and Dope. Their music has also been featured in the adult series "Shane's World," and porn star Jenna Jameson graced the cover of both of their full-length albums.
