History

K-Nitrate

K-Nitrate emerged in early 1993, founded by Graham Rayner and Steve Etheridge. Their debut album, Xenophobia, was released within months of the band's formation.

Xenophobia: A Political Statement

Xenophobia delivered sharp political commentary on the First Gulf War, addressing themes of conflict and religion with tracks such as "Human Shield" and "Killer Religion." The album was recognized as a powerful debut.

Evolution and New Directions

In 1996, guitarist Dan joined K-Nitrate, coinciding with the release of the Hyperphobia EP. This release featured remixes of tracks from Xenophobia alongside five new songs, signaling a shift towards a more potent live sound for the band.

Following the release of Hyperphobia, both Etheridge and Dan departed K-Nitrate to pursue individual projects. Rayner continued the band's work as a solo entity.

Collaboration and Continued Output

While involved in the breakbeat side project Tramazi, Rayner connected with programmer Christian Weber. This collaboration led to K-Nitrate undertaking extensive live performances over the subsequent years, alongside undertaking remix work for various artists when time allowed.

Active Cell: A Fusion of Styles

In 2007, K-Nitrate released their second full-length studio album, Active Cell. This album is noted for its fusion of diverse underground dance influences with the seasoned songwriting expected from Rayner and Weber, resulting in a substantial and impactful record.
