Formation and Evolution
The Japanese Neo-Prog band Gerard emerged in 1984, with their latest release dating to 2010. The group has been categorized under Neo-Prog, symphonic/progressive rock, and hard progressive genres. In the mid-1990s, a significant lineup change introduced a heavier sonic direction, marked by the release of their album "The Pendulum" in 1996. Concurrently, the band transitioned into a power trio, eliminating the guitarist position and focusing on keyboards, bass, and drums.
Core Members and Contributions
Keyboardist Toshio Egawa has remained the sole consistent member throughout Gerard's history. The bass duties have been fulfilled by a succession of musicians including Yohei Kawada, Yasumasa Uotani, Toshima Nagai, and Atsushi Hasegawa. The drumming ensemble has featured Masaharu Sato, Masaki Tanimoto, Kota Igarashi, Masuhiro Goto, and Kenichi Fujimoto. Vocal responsibilities have been shared by Robin G. Suchy, Simon Nakaji, and Yasuo Sasai, alongside various instrumentalists. During periods when guitar was part of the lineup, Yukihiro Fujimura was the guitarist.

Gerard, born Gerald Hoffmann in 1987, is an Austrian rapper hailing from Wels, Upper Austria, who has resided in Vienna since 2006. His musical journey began at the age of 16 when his first track was featured on a hip-hop compilation in 2003. This was followed by a series of releases culminating in his 2009 album 'Blur,' produced by Maeckes of Die Orsons. The album garnered positive reception.
Artistic Themes and Performances
Gerard's music is characterized by its melancholic and dreamy atmosphere, intricate rhymes, and influences of British breakbeats. His lyrics often explore the disorientation and resistance of a young generation. He has performed at notable events such as the Danube Island Festival in Vienna and the Splash, one of Europe's largest hip-hop festivals. He has also served as a supporting act for artists like Prinz Pi and Die Orsons. His album 'Blausicht' was released in 2013.

Self-Titled Debut and McMahon's Subsequent Career
The American rock band led by British-born singer-songwriter Gerard McMahon had a brief existence. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1976 on the Caribou/CBS label and featured the notable participation of the horn section from the band Chicago. Following this project, McMahon achieved success as a songwriter, crafting songs for artists including Kiss, Carly Simon, and Roger Daltrey. His association with Chicago continued through collaborations with Robert Lamm on Lamm's solo recordings. McMahon now performs under the moniker "G Tom Mac."
