History
Based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Sibyl is a folk ensemble that blends the atmospheric stillness of the Canadian prairies with jazz sensibilities and East Coast Celtic traditions. The group is composed of siblings Jeremy, Roslyn, and Melanie Penner, who are joined by Tesia Rhind and Daniel Guezen. Together, they draw on their diverse musical upbringings to craft intricate melodies and sophisticated arrangements.
The band’s sound is characterized by a wide array of instrumentation and a focus on vocal harmony. By merging their Mennonite heritage with maritime influences, Sibyl creates a unique sonic landscape that feels both grounded in tradition and contemporary in its execution. Their music is often noted for its evocative, "chill" quality, creating a listening experience that is as textured as it is melodic.
