ReoNa, born October 20, 1998, is a singer from Kagoshima, Japan. Her interest in cosplay began in elementary school after a classmate introduced her to the art form. After acquiring a Hatsune Miku costume, her passion grew, leading her to adopt the stage names Reopeko and ReoNa* during her attendance at events like Comiket. She also harbored aspirations of becoming an anison singer, sharing her covers of such songs on YouTube.
In 2017, ReoNa emerged as a finalist in an audition held by SACRA MUSIC, a Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc. subsidiary established that same year and focused on anime music. Securing a contract with the label, she made her debut the following year as the singing voice of the character Kanzaki Elsa in the anime series Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online. Her debut song, "Pilgim," released on April 25, 2018, achieved success by topping both the iTunes Japan anime singles chart and Amazon Japan's digital music rankings. This was followed by two more songs featured in the anime: "step, step" and "Independence." These tracks were included on her mini-album, ELZA, released on July 4, 2018, which reached number 8 on the Oricon weekly charts.
