Sergio Dalma, born Josep Sergi Capdevila Querol on September 28, 1964, in Sabadell, Catalonia, is a prominent Spanish pop singer. His musical journey began with performances in bands and as a backing vocalist before gaining wider recognition.
Dalma's career took a significant turn after winning the television program "Gent d'aqui" on TVE Catalunya. This victory secured him a regular singing engagement at the Shadows nightclub in Barcelona. Subsequently, he signed with the record label Horus and released his debut album, "Esa chica es mia," in 1989. While not an immediate commercial success, his second album, "Sintiéndonos la piel," released in 1991, paved the way for greater opportunities.
In 1991, Sergio Dalma was selected to represent Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Bailar Pegados." His fourth-place finish marked a pivotal moment, significantly boosting his public profile and launching him into mainstream fame.
The following year, Dalma released "Adivina," an album that soared to the number one spot on the charts, largely driven by the popularity of the single "Ave Lucía." Following this success, he moved to Polygram, where he released four albums, and later signed with Universal Music Group, his current label, under which he has released another four albums.
While primarily known for his work in Spanish, Sergio Dalma, a native Catalan speaker, has also incorporated his mother tongue into his music. His albums "Lo Mejor de Sergio Dalma" and "Todo Lo Que Quieres" feature songs in Catalan, reflecting his roots.
