Nosaj Thing, the moniker of Los Angeles-based producer Jason Chung, crafts atmospheric, synth-driven instrumental hip-hop. His sound draws from a diverse palette, including artists like Boards of Canada and DJ Shadow, alongside the cinematic scores of Danny Elfman and the minimalist compositions of Erik Satie.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Chung's early musical inclinations were shaped by the hip-hop radio broadcasts he heard on his commute to elementary school, particularly the turntablism of the Beat Junkies on Power 106. During high school, his exploration of drum and bass and rave culture, combined with his involvement in the school drum line, led him to experiment with beat programming on his father's old PC.
