Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor, known professionally as Lorde, is a New Zealand singer-songwriter celebrated for her innovative approach to pop music and her sharp, introspective lyrics. Born on November 7, 1996, in Auckland, she developed an early interest in performance and literature, eventually adopting a moniker inspired by her fascination with the aristocracy.
Lorde’s professional journey began in 2009 when she signed with Universal Music Group. In 2011, she began collaborating with producer Joel Little, a partnership that would define her early sound. Their first project, The Love Club EP, was initially released for free on SoundCloud in 2012 before receiving a commercial release the following year. The EP featured the global hit single "Royals," which topped charts worldwide and established Lorde as a major new voice in music.
