Brother Ali's journey into hip-hop began with breakdancing, but his path was solidified when he first heard Miilkbone. A devoted student of hip-hop's golden age, Ali crafts music that is both purposeful and passionate, consistently delivering soulful tracks that honor the boastful traditions of hip-hop culture. As an emcee, producer, host, and natural entertainer, Brother Ali is a distinctive and valuable member of the Rhymesayers family.
In the spring of 2000, Ali released Rites of Passage, a sixty-minute concept album on Rhymesayers Entertainment. This cassette-only release, which he produced himself, showcased his burgeoning skills as a beatmaker and lyricist. On the album, Ali not only played instruments like the congas and beat-boxed but also shared his perspectives on the music industry, religion, and urban life in America.
