Missy Elliott

Melissa Arnette Elliott, widely known as Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott, was born on July 1, 1971, in Portsmouth, Virginia. A Grammy Award-winning artist, Elliott has carved out a significant legacy as a rapper, singer, producer, and actress. She first emerged on the music scene as a member of the R&B group Sista in 1993.

Following the dissolution of Sista, Elliott launched a highly successful solo career. Her debut album, Supa Dupa Fly, released in 1997, marked the beginning of an impressive discography that includes Da Real World (1999), Miss E… So Addictive (2001), Under Construction (2002), This Is Not a Test! (2003), and The Cookbook (2005). Elliott is distinguished as the only female rapper to have achieved six albums certified platinum by the RIAA, with sales exceeding seven million in the United States alone. She was also the third female rapper to earn a platinum certification, following Lil' Kim and Da Brat.
