History
Cappadonna
Born in Staten Island around 1969, Cappadonna's connection to the Wu-Tang Clan dates back to his childhood. He harbored ambitions of becoming a rapper from the age of 15. His official recorded debut arrived in 1995 on Raekwon's seminal album, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx..., marking his entry into the Wu-Tang Killa Beez collective.
Early Collaborations and Solo Debut
Following his debut, Cappadonna became a frequent contributor to Wu-Tang projects. He played a significant role on Ghostface Killah's 1996 album, Ironman, and was featured on the Clan's 1997 sophomore release, Wu-Tang Forever.
His solo career launched in March 1998 with the release of The Pillage. Executive produced by RZA and featuring guest appearances from fellow Wu-Tang members such as Method Man, U-God, Ghostface Killah, and Raekwon, the album was a commercial success, debuting at number three on the charts. It stood as the sixth official Wu-Tang solo project.
Continued Releases and Wu-Tang Return
Cappadonna's second album, The Yin and the Yang, was released in early 2001, followed by his third album, The Struggle, in 2003. In the subsequent years, he remained active through mix-CD releases, touring, and joining Ghostface Killah's Theodore Unit. His official return to the Wu-Tang Clan fold occurred in late 2007 with an appearance on the group's fifth studio album, 8 Diagrams, where he delivered a notable verse on the opening track and contributed to two other songs.
Chambermusik Deal and New Material
In 2008, Cappadonna signed with the independent label Chambermusik Records/Koch. The anticipation for new material from the artist culminated in the release of Slang Prostitution on January 27, 2009.
