MC Lyte, born Lana Michele Moorer on October 11, 1971, in Brooklyn, New York, is a pioneering female rapper. She is widely recognized as the first female artist in hip-hop to achieve a level of lyrical prowess and delivery comparable to her male counterparts. Her style is characterized by a fierce, working-class Brooklyn accent, a no-nonsense attitude, and a penchant for explicit language.
