To get the best idea about The Home Guard in the shortest time possible, have a quick listen to Champagne Socialist and Other People. The former is a bass-driven indie rocker with a Britpop and synthy new wave flavour, whilst the latter is a progressive folk ballad with pianos, flutes and a heavy guitar section - but try not to let that put you off!
As these two songs demonstrate, one thing The Home Guard really strive to do is incorporate a range of genres into their music. You'll hear elements of indie, progressive rock, Britpop, folk, glam rock, new wave, art rock, and a few more besides. For this reason, it's very difficult to pigeon-hole The Home Guard: their favourite tag they've received on Last.fm is "progressive indie", and they wish they'd thought of it themselves.
