History Airbridge
Airbridge was formed in 1980 by Lorenzo Bedini (guitar, keyboard, vocals) and Sean Godfrey (bass, vocals). After some sifting through auditions they were joined by Edward Percival (guitar, vocals) and David Beckett (drums).
The album Paradise Moves was recorded and published in 1982 on the Carve Up label, an imprint of Red Lightning. The single, Words and Pictures was released in 1983 and achieved a certain fame through being selected by Malcolm Bradbury as one of his 'Desert Island Discs' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airbridge_(band)).
Airbridge developed a large following in the south east of England. They performed regularly throughout the east of England including several dates at The Rock Garden, and headlining at The Marquee.
Stephen Bennett (No Man, Henry Fool) joined Airbridge on keyboards. Bedini left Airbridge to be replaced by Geoff Chamberlain (guitar) and some recordings were made and these were released by Percival under the title Beyond the Veil.
Bedini and Godfrey continued recording and composing as Airbridge throughout the '80s and up to the present day. Bedini released Mythica as a rough demo in 2008 (not available) and worked with Godfrey, Pavla Kristkova, aided by Mark Spencer (Twelfth Night).
In 2009, Dave Dowdeswell-Allaway joined Airbridge (acoustic guitars, drums, vocals). Dave worked with Airbridge as their live sound engineer in the 1980s. They have recorded an EP of four tracks, due to be released on the Airbridge label in 2013. The four tracks consist of one song (Bedini), written in, but not recorded, in the early 1980s, two songs (Bedini) and one (Dowdeswell-Allaway) written between 2007-2012. Airbridge returned to live performances in 2012.
The band is influenced by Barclay James Harvest, Camel, Caravan, King Crimson (Bruford, Levin, Belew, Fripp era), Rush, David Bowie, Nick Drake, Foo fighters, Jethro Tull.
