#1 Tony Romano (Fresno, CA, September 26, 1915 - March 4, 2005) was an American jazz guitarist and songwriter. #2 Tony Romano (Peppino Principe, Monte Sant’Angelo, Foggia, Puglia, 1927 - 8 March 2018) was an Italian piano accordionist and ensemble leader. Also known as Tony Romano. He was the winner of the Jazz Referendum in 1946 as "Best Jazz Accordionist", and in 1961 of the "World Accordion Oscar", the highest international recognition of the instrument. With his "Excelsior" accordion he performed in the biggest theaters in the world: "Carnegie Hall" in New York, "Festival Hall" in London, "Lisinsky" in Zagreb, "Gass Hall" in Tokyo, "Colon" in Buenos Aires, "Opera House" in Cairo, "Pleyel" in Paris and Moscow Conservatory, as well as in the most important Italian theaters, including the "Teatro alla Scala" in Milan , and many others.
