History Peter & The Prophets

Peter & the Prophets were more than a 60s garage band formed in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They held their legendary dance music sessions at the Beach Bash in Grand Haven, Michigan, Club Pony Tail in Petosky, Mi. various bars, and gigs in Lansing at Michigan State Events. Peter Samuelson, lead singer and rhythm guitar, and John Kay, vocalist, writer, 12 string, were playing all over the Midwest in the 60s and when approached to join with the likes of the Bolin Brothers lead and bass respectively, they jumped at the chance. Danny Kimball was without a band at the time and for a lark joined in Spring of 65. Who can forget the night they played Coopersville, MI. a fine bunch of screaming fans that night. Let's not forget the wake call done at Creston High 1966! Then came the record offers from Fenton, the jumping up the charts at WLS in Chicago, the band was on the run.

Gary Lewis and the Playboys asked the Prophets to be their opening act to get the crowds pumped! Then Paul Revere and the Raiders needed an opening act and P & P were sensational! That's what the Prophets were best at.
